Educational Programs

Monocacy Farm Project offers hands-on field experience to youth each summer as well as additional educational programming throughout the year. The workshops introduce basic health and nutrition-related information and are designed to equip youth to make healthy food choices. Field experiences on the farm teach youth how to grow and harvest and prepare their own organic vegetables.

Corresponding workshops and assembly presentations are available to area schools in conjunction with the Kellyn Foundation. The program also is offered to students enrolled in Kolbe Academy, the nation’s only faith-based recovery high school, located on the Monocacy Manor property.

Programs for adults include the Health, Wellness, and Spirituality workshop series presented at the adjacent St. Francis Center for Renewal. Future workshops include presentations on organic gardening, medicinal and native plants, permaculture design, orchard planning and maintenance, and ornamental horticulture. Off-site instruction and assistance to families wishing to create and maintain home gardens is made available by appointment as time allows.
